Samir Handanovic – 8 *
Man of the Match! Hands down the best goalkeeper in Serie A. Saved Inter on countless occasions in which he denied Mertens a goal at point blank range. Literally saved everything Napoli threw at him and then some.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6
Did exceptionally well against Serie A's strongest offense. Insigne had trouble getting past the left flank - made a great interception to stop Mertens from running through on goal in the second half.
Milan Skriniar – 7
The heart of Inter's defense! Napoli's trio were all in his pocket last night. Had many vital interceptions but notably to stop Mertens who was going on goal. Made a mistake in his half when dispossessed by Koulibaly, but did his job well with numerous interceptions.
Joao Miranda – 6.5
One cannot deny his great partnership with Skriniar in the back. Was solid as ever in the back and denied Mertens early in the first half. However, he tends to pick up silly yellow cards, this needs improvement.
Yuto Nagatomo – 5.5
Did well in the battle with Jose Callejon in the first half, worked hard up and down the line. However, he left the left flank exposed on many occasions. Dalbert would be a better replacement.
Matias Vecino – 7
A high rating for his high work rate. Ran his socks off closing down Napoli’s passing lanes. Came close to opening the scoring when he made a world class run past 4 Napoli players, rounding Pepe Reina and denied by Raul Albiol's goal-line clearance.
Roberto Gagliardini – 6
Was originally supposed to help the forward and defense but Napoli's high pressing left him with no option but to focus on his defensive duties. He did well when had to - nice first touches.
Borja Valero – 6.5
Our maestro and mind in the midfield - had a good chance to score when he beat the offside trap and found himself inside the box, although the ball didn’t come down quick enough for him to get a good smack on it. Tried to link up with Perisic, Icardi and Candreva and did well throughout the match. Was later subbed off for Joao Mario.
Antonio Candreva – 6.5
This is the Candreva we all want. Faouzi Ghoulam was so tired after the game, gave him a beck of a battle. Fought for every ball and had a few bad crosses but an overall good performance.
Ivan Perisic – 6.5
His work rate is like no other! It baffles me how this man doesn't run out of breath! Constantly running up and down the left flank - closing gaps and causing trouble for Hysaj. Linked up well with Borja and was much stronger in the second half.
Mauro Icardi – 6
A very quiet match for the captain. Had little service throughout the match - his first shot on target was in the 40th minute. Koulibaly was holding his hand all night and never let him out of his sight, even when he was replaced by Eder.
Joao Mario – 6
Got subbed on to give energy to the midfield, and that's exactly what he did. Flew a dangerous looking strike across Reina’s goal.
Joao Cancelo – N/A
Eder – N/A
