Well, all that may have been a little premature as in typical pazza Inter fashion, the ragazzi have turned in three difficult victories against Tottenham, Sampdoria away and most recently, toppling a motivated, in form Fiorentina side who look the goods under former Inter manager Pioli.
So where do Inter go from here in the next few matches? Lets take a look at what is in store for Inter & their fans in the coming weeks.
Next for the nerrazzuri is a home fixture against Cagliari. The lads from Sardinia have had a mixed start to their domestic campaign with one win, three draws and two losses, placing them in 16th position on the ladder. With an invigorated lineup, they wont be easy beats for Inter who have not struggled against them in recent fixtures, dominating the last three matches between the two 4-0, 1-3 & 1-5.
However, we have seen in recent seasons how easy it is for Inter to become complacent in their form and take their foot off the gas to an inferior opponent, and us such i for one will not be counting my chickens until the full time whistle is blown in this one.
Prediction Inter 2-1 Cagliari
OFF TO EINDHOVEN:
Moving along to the Champions League and Inter will travel to Eindhoven to visit a red hot, domestically undefeated PSV. The Dutch champions have recorded six wins from six this season, scoring twenty four goals and conceding only three and look like an absolute powerhouse under Mark van Bommel. They were however, comprehensively outplayed on the park against Barcelona even after the Blaugrana were reduced to 10 men.
If Inter are to take anything from this match, they are going to have to be diligent and focused from the first minute until the final whistle. Sime Vrsaljko & Lautaro Martinez are both expected to be 100% ready for this fixture and could return to the action with the latter likely to start from the bench. A solid performance in defence from the centre backs would see Inter stand a chance at grabbing at least a point in Eindhoven.
Prediction: PSV 1-1 Inter
